I never thought that when I left United that I would have such strong feelings for my employer again. But I was wrong. I have come to think of Neumayer as my extended family. There are many things I will miss about Doug. His jokes, his laughter. I have also learned a lot from Doug, especially how to use a stapler - 1 inch from the upper left corner at 45 degrees. I can only hope that we all carry on as Doug wished.
Now back to work with a smile as Doug would want us to.

In 1993 I went to Doug and told him I decided to get married and out of all my friends he is the best man I knew and would he be my best man. He accepted and after fifteen more year at Doug sixty birthday party I gave him a picture of us shaking hands from my wedding. Doug was my friend and mentor. Ever positive and energetic, he always found time for me, whether in business or personal situations. He affectionately called me "Lurch" from the very first time we met in the mid-80s and from then on, I felt like part of the family. He was wise beyond his years and he left me with several truths I have passed on to my children. Growing up without a father, a man needs the counsel he can trust and take heart in.
